Family: - Mother: Theresa Pryde (alive // 42) - Father: Carmen Pryde (alive // 43) Mutation: Phasing  Powers: Kitty has the ability to pass through solid matter by altering the vibratory rates of her atoms: passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object through which she is passing can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed when she has finished passing through the object. This process is called phasing, and it renders her almost completely intangible to physical touch. Kitty passes through objects at the same speed at which she is moving before she "enters" them. Since she is unable to breathe while "inside" an object, she can only continuously phase through solid objects (as when she travels underground) as long as she can hold her breath. She is naturally solid and must choose when to use her power. While phasing, she does not physically walk on surfaces, but rather interacts with the molecules of air above them, allowing her to ascend and descend, allowing her to seemingly walk on air. While phased, she is immune to most physical attacks, and has inconsistent showings of some resistance to telepathy. The density of some materials (such as adamantium) can prove deleterious to her phasing, causing her to be severely disoriented or experience pain if she tries to pass through them. Directed-energy attacks, such as lightning and lasers, have been shown to pass through her without harm. Magic and magical beings also prove to be an enigma in regards to Kitty's phasing. The use of her abilities also interferes with any electrical systems (including the bio-electric systems of the human body), as she passes through by disrupting the flow of electrons from atom to atom. She can extend her phasing effect to her own clothing or any other object with mass up to that of a small truck, as long as she remains in contact with it. She has trained herself to go automatically, by reflex, into a phasing state at any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself. Besides her mutant powers, Kitty is a genius in the field of applied technology and computer science. She is highly talented in the design and use of computer hardware. She possesses moderate expertise of the martial arts of the Japanese ninja and samurai. She sings with a Soprano range and plays the piano. She is a professional level dancer in both ballet and modern dance. She speaks fluent English, Japanese, Russian, and has moderate expertise in Gaelic, Hebrew, and German.  History: Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde was born in Deerfield, Illinois to Carmen and Theresa Pryde on a crisp day in November. Being an only child, she was doted on from her first breath, never lacking in anything she could ever need or want. While her parents were not rich, they did well for themselves and put Kitty into ballet classes and karate classes at a very young age. She took to them like a bird to the air, loving the intricacies of the movements and the confidence it gave her. By the time she was twelve, she'd won multiple awards for her dancing skills and was already well on her way to becoming a black belt. She excelled in school, especially in her classes involving computers. When she graduated at nineteen, she auditioned for Juilliard and was accepted to begin her freshman year the following Fall semester. Not long after the solar flare, and her nineteenth birthday, Kitty started having terrible headaches. At first it was thought that they were from a blow to the head during class but x-rays and tests showed there was nothing to worry about. Not a week after her tests, she had a nightmare, the product of watching a horror movie before bed. In the nightmare, she was caught in seaweed in the middle of the ocean, and she was sinking and drowning. The seaweed was actually her blankets and the water she was sinking into was her bed, and then the floor. The drowning sensation lasted as long as she was between the solid material but as soon as she emerged and hit the common room floor, she awoke and realized what had happened. A dorm-mate heard her screaming and ran to find her on the floor in the common room. Kitty told him through her tears about the nightmare, and didn't understand how she'd gotten down there. Looking around for any sort of clue, her friend saw Kitty's blankets phased halfway through the ceiling and realized that it had been no nightmare. Being as astute as she is, it didn't take very long for Kitty to get an understanding of her newfound ability. She also knew how dangerous it was to be a this different, and what it could mean for her parents if she was ever found out. For a time there was never an issue hiding who she really was and what she could do. But in the end, it was her heart that betrayed her. Her first real relationship was with a boy named Tim Jenkins, the very boy who had found her screaming and confused that night. He was a Sophomore at Juiliard, there studying music theory, and she a Freshman, just another ballerina. He was her first love and the only person besides her parents that Kitty felt she could be completely honest with. Having completed his second year of schooling, he decided to leave the states and pursue a career abroad. He tried to convince Kitty to go with him, but she decided to stay, feeling New York was the safest place for someone like her to be. Jilted, Tim threatened to tell people of her secret. Now Kitty is seeking for a safe place, and wondering if staying at school is still even an option for her. She has heard of Haven and, being as stubborn as she can be, has written it off. Until now. Now Kitty seeks to find others like her, and is hoping within their company, she can start to get some sort of hold on her life, and maybe learn how to get some sense of normalcy back. Affiliation: Unaffiliated at yet, but I'd like to have her join Haven.  Personality: Kitty likes to have fun. She's giggly, very girls, and sweet. Her loyalties run deep and she trusts far too easily. Though now that her trust has been broken so severely, trust may not come so easy anymore. She is very much into anything that is artistic. Music, art, dance, even painting and drwaing (which she cannot do) kind of make her go off into her own world. She has a very creative spirit and can easily lose herself in someone else's work, as much as her own. Conversely, there is also a large part of her that likes order, symmetry, and absolutes. She finds comfort in computer programming and the ins and outs of flow charts and documents. Sometimes if she is too stressed to clear her mind enough to dance or play music, she will hop onto a computer and start building websites for different organizations, or even for friends just to concentrate on something new for awhile. Appearance: Coming in at 5' 2", Kitty is rather short. She has a dancer's body; thin and lithe. Her long hair is dark brown and blue eyes large and piercing. Strengths: Kitty has a quick mind, picking up on complicated things much faster than normal people usually do. She is very computer savvy, agile, and quick on her feet. She's is a two-time black belt and is a strong fighter. Weaknesses: She trusts people far too easy, and being in a new and strange place like this, she would be vulnerable to anyone who looked like a friend, even if they really mean her harm.
